Talk & LectureMary Portas: I Shop, Therefore I Am
Friday 13 November
📍 Tetbury

About this event
Fiona James explores how photography earned its place as an art form, using iconic images from the 20th century. She looks at how painters influenced early photographs and borrowed ideas from them in return, with Alfred Stieglitz's 1907 photograph The Steerage setting the scene.
Doors open at 6.15pm, with a licensed bar available before the 7pm talk. The hall is accessible on the ground floor, with floor-level seating available; ask the box office about wheelchair spaces and the three hearing-loop units. Take care on the pavement outside in wet weather, when it can be slippery.
The free car park beside the Shed is shared with other visitors, so allow time to find a space and approach via Cirencester Road rather than Gumstool Hill. You do not need to print your ticket: the box office checks names against its booking list. Come for a closer look at familiar images and the ideas that changed how people saw them.
Ticketed. Book through Tetbury Goods Shed.
