About this event
Flautist Ruby Howells and harpist Bonnie Scott bring Duo Tânwen to the Goods Shed's Royal Academy of Music lunchtime series. Childhood friends with shared Welsh heritage, they formed the duo in 2020 during their undergraduate studies at the Academy.
They have a particular interest in music by female, underrepresented and global-majority composers. This programme puts that interest alongside familiar names from opera and film music.
Clémence de Grandval's Valse Mélancolique and Germaine Tailleferre's Two Pieces sit alongside Tōru Takemitsu's Toward the Sea III. Takemitsu's three movements are The Night, Moby Dick and Cape Cod.
The programme also includes Bizet's Entr'acte from Carmen, Augusta Holmès's Trois Petites Pièces, Joseph Jongen's Danse Lente and Lili Boulanger's Nocturne. Nino Rota's Sonata for Flute and Harp completes the recital.
The concert starts at 1pm, with the box office normally open at least half an hour beforehand. Under-25s can attend free; book the appropriate ticket category, and bring your booking name rather than a printed ticket.
The ground floor and accessible toilet are step-free, while the raked seats have steps. Contact the venue before booking for floor-level seating, wheelchair space or hearing assistance, as a hearing loop is not assured for acoustic music.
Use Cirencester Road to reach the free Old Railyard long-stay car park beside the Goods Shed; Gumstool Hill has no vehicle access to it. The car park is shared with other visitors, so allow time to find a space.
Ticketed. Free for under-25s.
