Spooky pebble painting workshop

Five pebbles, plenty of room for spooky ideas

Children aged 7+ can spend two hours painting and decorating up to five pebbles in New Brewery Arts' Scissors Studio. Artist Vicky McPherson leads a mandala-inspired session using water-based acrylic paints, paint pens, brushes, dotting tools and Halloween embellishments.

Ghosts, pumpkins, spooky eyes, spiders and mummies are all possible, but children can make their own designs too. No previous experience is needed and all materials are included, although an apron or clothes that can get messy are sensible.

Adults must sign children in and out; if a child will travel to or from the class alone, New Brewery Arts asks parents to notify the venue beforehand. A lidded bottle of water is welcome, but food should stay outside the studio; the wider venue has lifts, ramps and an accessible toilet, though families should check the exact studio route if that matters.
