About this event
Spend a day with designer maker Lauren Holloway turning a commercial pattern into a pair of pyjama bottoms. You will learn to read and adapt the pattern for fit, then work through waistbands, hemming, straight and curved seams, and pattern matching before taking your garment home.
This workshop is for adults aged 18 and over who already have a little sewing-machine experience. Bring three metres of standard cotton, cotton poplin or brushed cotton, with no stretch fabric; threads, equipment and sewing machines are provided, although you may bring matching thread.
If you prefer your own machine, bring its standard foot and buttonhole foot. A lidded water bottle is welcome, but food stays outside the studio; Blend cafe serves refreshments until 4pm.
New Brewery Arts has a lift and ground-floor accessible toilet, and asks you to mention access needs when booking. It has no dedicated car park: the nearby Brewery car park has accessible spaces, while Sheep Street offers long-stay parking about five minutes away on foot.
Book more than two weeks ahead, as the venue assesses bookings then and may cancel an undersubscribed workshop. With your fabric chosen and a full day set aside, this is a chance to learn the construction behind clothes you can keep wearing.
Ticketed. Check current availability before booking; cancellations within 30 days do not receive a refund.
