Outdoor theatre in Stroud, a Dickens farce, and an invitation to bring a picnic — this is exactly what a June evening in the Cotswolds should look like. The Pickwick Society brings their adaptation of The Pickwick Papers to the grounds of Museum in the Park on 6 June, and the setting couldn't suit it better.

Mr Pickwick and his companions blunder through courtroom shenanigans, ill-fated duels, confused courtships, and carriage rides that go comprehensively wrong. It's broad, fast-paced comedy from Dickens' most rollicking novel, performed by a cast clearly enjoying every minute of it. Doors open at 5pm, show runs from 5.30 to 8pm. Tickets from around £9 to £19.

Pack something decent to eat and drink before the curtain goes up — the park sets you up for it.
