About this event
The Museum in the Park sits in Stratford Park in the middle of Stroud — free to visit, and one of the more quietly pleasant spots in town. The Walled Garden at the back hosts outdoor theatre on summer evenings, which is where the Festival Players come in.
The Comedy of Errors is Shakespeare's shortest play and his most relentlessly farcical. Two sets of identical twins, accidentally separated at birth, end up in the same city. The confusion that follows involves wrongful beatings, a near-seduction, false accusations of theft, madness and demonic possession — all driven by mistaken identity and wordplay until it collapses into resolution. The Festival Players tour it as an all-male company, with Dame Judi Dench as patron.
Bring rugs or picnic chairs — no seating is provided. Dress for the evening (warm layers and waterproofs advised). Picnics are welcome, and drinks, snacks and ice creams are available on site. No dogs except access dogs. The car park is a short walk from the garden; call 01453 763394 if you need accessible parking.
