About this event

Stroud’s performance history on film, VHS and the wall

Films made in 2000, including original VHS recordings, sit alongside framed performer stills and a wall collage of posters, photographs and news clippings from 1995 to 2005. Steep Step Stroud looks at the town’s performers around the turn of the century and the ground they laid for those who followed.

The exhibition brings together Stroud residents, historian Stuart Butler, performing artist James Dick and visual artist Katie McCue. Films can be watched during the exhibition visit, with no separate screening times to plan around.

Visit Tuesday to Friday from 10am to 4.30pm, or at weekends from 11am to 4.30pm; the museum is closed on Mondays, including 7 and 14 December. There is step-free access through the grounds and a lift to the first floor, with accessible toilets and a manual wheelchair available on request.

The main Stratford Park car park is free, about 260 metres away along a wide, gently sloping tarmac path. Accessible parking bays are directly outside the museum.

Free entry, donations welcome.
