Hunt for golden pumpkins beneath an unfinished Gothic mansion

Explore the Spooky Cellars at Woodchester Mansion and search the rooms for golden pumpkins hidden by Chester. Find them all to claim a small prize, with the Golden Pumpkin Trail and rooms used in filming The Reluctant Vampire included in admission.

The cellars are aimed at visitors aged four and above, with school-age children likely to get the most from them. Children must have an adult with them, and the unfinished building has uneven floors and steps down to the cellars.

Park at the National Trust Buckholt car park and allow for a three-quarter-mile approach along an unmade track, with an incline or rustic steps. An hourly minibus may run when available; use the visitor directions rather than the mansion postcode in satnav.

Henry's Cafe will be open for refreshments, and Woodchester Park has autumn walks and a National Trust play trail. With ten days to choose from, the cellar visit can be part of a longer family outing.
