Nadine James paints the countryside around Stroud in heightened colour and loose, expressive brushwork. Her sister Jessie turns the same instinct for pattern into hand-tufted rugs. Seventeen years apart in age, the two didn't show together until 2023, and now they're back at the Lansdown Gallery for a second round.

Nadine's paintings chase an emotional response to the landscape rather than a faithful likeness. Jessie works from a purpose-built studio in her garden, hand-tufting rugs under the name Studio Tuft, a craft she's been building for around five years. The show runs five days, walls hung with Nadine's paintings and floors laid with Jessie's rugs, so there's time to go back for a second look.

Worth seeing just for how differently two sisters, raised in the same house, handle colour.
