Piano Masterclass with William Howard: performers and observers

Bring a piece to work on, or listen in

Intermediate and advanced pianists can work on prepared repertoire with William Howard in an informal workshop day. Each teaching session lasts about 30 minutes and covers interpretation, performance and technique, with other topics welcome for discussion.

Howard founded the Schubert Ensemble and has coached chamber music at Birmingham Conservatoire and taught at Dartington International Summer School. Non-playing observers are welcome, so you can follow the teaching without taking a performing place.

Performers should contact the office at office@tetburygoodsshed.co.uk or on 01666 505496, giving their age, approximate level and intended piece. If the piece is undecided, its details can follow nearer the day; tea and coffee are included for performing participants.

Observers can book online or through the box office for the full day, the morning from 10am to 1pm, or the afternoon from 2pm to 5pm. An attendee under 18 can bring an accompanying adult free.

Doors open at 9.30am, with the workshop running from 10am to 5pm. Bring your booking name rather than a printed ticket, and contact the venue about any individual piano-access or seating needs.

The ground floor and accessible toilet are step-free, while the raked seats have steps, and a hearing loop is not assured for acoustic music. Free parking is in the shared Old Railyard car park beside the venue; approach from Cirencester Road, as Gumstool Hill has no vehicle access to it.

Owner review: the venue advertises up to ten performing places, but the dated booking copy says up to nine and also refers to a maximum of ten participants. Confirm the performing limit with the office; this wording does not establish observer capacity or remaining availability.
