About this event
John Salter's new play follows people in the fictitious South Yorkshire village of Gracethorpe through the hardships of the 1984 to 85 miners' strike. Cotswold Players stage the production with support from Stroud Arts Festival, placing the Battle of Orgreave at the centre of a year of upheaval.
The story sets government against unions, Thatcher against Scargill, and striking miners against those still working. It leaves questions open for the audience to weigh, rather than offering a single verdict on the conflict.
Row A is step-free and two wheelchair spaces must be booked in advance, while the other raked rows involve steps. The Playhouse has a lift, accessible toilet and sound loop, but no dedicated disabled parking.
Parliament Street Car Park, opposite the police station, is about a five-minute walk from the theatre. Allow time for the walk before doors open at 7pm.
Ticketed. Book with Cotswold Players.
