About this event
The Festival Players have been staging open-air Shakespeare for decades, touring the country with an all-male repertory company in the English classical tradition. This is the afternoon performance — bring a rug, pack a picnic, and settle in on the grass outside the Goods Shed while The Comedy of Errors does its gleeful worst.
The play is Shakespeare's shortest and his most farcical: two sets of identical twins, separated at birth, fetch up in the same city, and the resulting confusion — mistaken identities, wrongful beatings, a stolen gold chain, accusations of demonic possession — escalates with the precision of a Swiss watch. It's fast, physical, and very funny, and The Festival Players know exactly how to pitch it.
Adults £18 advance, £12 under-18. On the door (if available): £20 and £13. Wine available to pre-order. The performance moves inside the Main Hall if the weather turns.
