Talk & LectureThe Practice of Place
Friday 16 October

About this event
Meet Vivienne Beaumont for an informal conversation about the textile work she brings to UNmaking. Her practice combines symbolism, machine embroidery and printmaking, with drawings often developed in Photoshop before they are transferred onto fabric.
Beaumont uses cloth and thread to explore life's cycles and shared cultural memory, leaving room for the materials to change an idea as she works. You can ask questions and share your own thoughts about the journey from a drawn line to a printed or stitched piece.
The session falls on the final day of UNmaking, which explores what happens when textile processes are unravelled, cut apart and remade. Drop in to look at the exhibition with one of its makers available to talk.
Free entry. Informal drop-in session; donations welcome.
