About this event

A 500-year journey through the woodcut

A piece of wood, a cutting tool, ink and paper can carry an extraordinary amount of history. In this illustrated talk, printmaker and academic Paul Coldwell follows the woodcut through 500 years of art, ideas and imagination.

From Durer and Hokusai to Kathe Kollwitz and William Kentridge, the talk explores how artists turned a practical process into a vehicle for beauty, protest and wonder.

The Sanctuary Room has on-site parking and step-free site access. The historic warehouse can be cold, so bring an extra layer.

Ticketed, with a pay-what-you-can option.
