About this event
Gel plate printing sits somewhere between painting and printmaking — messy, immediate, and surprisingly forgiving for anyone who's ever worried they weren't artistic enough.
This workshop at Lechlade Craft Barn walks you through the whole process: inking up a squishy gel plate, pressing paper onto it, peeling back to reveal what you've made, then layering collage on top to push it further. You'll work with animals, portraits, or pure abstraction depending on what calls to you — three different entry points into the same satisfying technique.
What makes it click is the permission to be playful. There's no "right way" to wreck a gel plate, which means even the happy accidents become part of your finished piece. The workshop suits complete beginners through to people who've dabbled in printmaking before and want to try something looser. You'll leave with several prints and collages, plus the muscle memory to keep going at home.
Run by Lechlade Craft Barn — worth following for their regular weekend workshops.
