Vegas, 1970: Baz Luhrmann's EPiC comes to Westonbirt

EPiC is not a tribute act or a highlights reel. It is Baz Luhrmann's 2026 concert film built from footage that spent decades in the Warner Bros. film archives: 68 boxes of 35mm and 8mm material stored in salt mines in Kansas, discovered while Luhrmann's team researched his 2022 Elvis biopic.

What they found was Elvis Presley at his peak: unused anamorphic 35mm footage from his 1970 Summer Festival at the International Hotel in Las Vegas (a residency that eventually ran to 636 consecutive sold-out shows), cut together with 16mm from Elvis on Tour and 8mm home film from the Graceland archive. A 45-minute audio recording of Presley telling his own story in his own words is woven through. The film holds 97% on Rotten Tomatoes and opened in IMAX cinemas in February 2026.

Adventure Cinema screens it on a large open-air screen in the Downs area of Westonbirt National Arboretum, surrounded by 600 acres of Gloucestershire woodland. Gates open at 6pm with a curated pre-show soundtrack; the film starts at 7.30pm. Pack a blanket or camping chair and a picnic. Hot food, snacks and drinks are on sale on site. Dogs are not admitted (assistance dogs excepted). Free parking is in the Cricket Pitch field.
