Classical Concert at All Saints' Church

Film Scores and Fine Playing at All Saints', Bisley

Cathy Thompson brings eleven London musicians back to Bisley for an evening that moves between classical repertoire and the kind of film scores that tend to stay with you.

The first half covers Mozart's Divertimento, Albinoni's Oboe Concerto transcribed for trumpet, Grieg's Holberg Suite, and Max Richter's Recomposed Spring — his reworking of Vivaldi that sounds like it was always supposed to exist. The second half hands over entirely to film music: Richter, John Williams, Ennio Morricone and George Fenton.

Joining Thompson is Caroline Daly, principal cellist with the English Chamber Orchestra, whose film score credits include 1917, Atonement and Truly Madly Deeply, and who has toured and recorded with David Gilmour, Peter Gabriel and Sinéad O'Connor. The EOM Singers — a group of professionally trained local musicians — perform alongside them.

Tickets £10–£20. A village church concert with a London-calibre lineup, and the acoustics to match.
