Talk & LectureAlice Loxton: A History of Britain in 21 Paintings

About this event
Meg Blumsom explores how Cirencester's four almshouse charities are adapting historic buildings for modern living. Changing demographics and the needs of today's residents are the focus of this Civic Society talk.
The town's almshouses have medieval roots and centuries of support from local philanthropy. For some reading around the subject, Meg recommends Anthony Trollope's The Warden, a novel centred on an almshouse.
The church has disabled access and facilities, with limited parking on site and further parking nearby. Doors open half an hour before the talk, leaving time to find a seat for a look at how these old charitable foundations continue to provide homes.
Free for Civic Society members. Visitors are welcome, with a donation invited on the door.
