About this event
By kind permission of the Bathurst family, Cirencester Park turns into a working eventing venue for the last weekend of September, with dressage arenas, showjumping courses and cross-country fences set out across parkland the family have shaped since the early 1700s.
The trials aren't affiliated with British Eventing, so riders compete outside that federation's grading system, but the three-phase format is unchanged: dressage, showjumping and cross-country run across the three days. This particular weekend carries extra weight, as it includes the final of the Cotswold Cup, the region's unaffiliated eventing series. Spectators are welcome, with trade stands selling saddlery, jackets and footwear, plus food and drink stalls set up for the weekend. Entry on foot is via the Two Mile Lodge gate.
Watching riders take cross-country fences at a gallop beneath two-hundred-year-old avenues is a different experience from a standard showground fixture.
Entry is charged.
