Sherlock Holmes, Live in a Victorian Courtroom

The first Sherlock Holmes story ever written, performed by a Hamilton Deane Award-winning actor in an original Victorian courtroom. It's hard to think of a more fitting stage.

Jonathan Goodwin plays Holmes in this one-man adaptation of A Study in Scarlet — Conan Doyle's 1887 debut, in which Holmes meets Watson for the first time and sets about unravelling the mystery of Lauriston Gardens: an unidentified body, a locked room, and a cryptic message on the wall. Goodwin is both the actor and the writer of the production, and the result is something shaped for the intimacy of a live space rather than a TV screen.

That space is Tetbury Police Museum's original Victorian Courtroom, which lends the whole thing a weight that a conventional theatre stage couldn't quite replicate. Seating is limited — don't leave it.
