WORD LAB

A night for trying things out in public

Stroud's Arts Lab returns as a Word Lab special for the Dobunni Poetry Festival, with spoken-word sets from Georgia Griffiths and Nick Degg alongside an open mic. The organisers frame it as a place to try, fail and try again, rather than a formal reading.

Griffiths brings work shaped by rhythm, storytelling and social observation; she won the 2025 Glastonbury Poetry Slam and is listed by the festival as 2026 England Slam Champion. Nick Degg, the 2025 Stoke-on-Trent Poet Laureate, is known for characterful poems and quick-fire tongue twisters, while Jonny Fluffypunk and Uta Baldauf host the evening.

The festival lists one Word Lab session, running from 19:30 to 22:00 at Trinity Rooms on Field Road, and says its Stroud venues are within walking distance of the town. To secure an open-mic slot, email jonseagrave23@yahoo.co.uk or uta.baldauf@gmail.com. Check with the organisers if you need specific access information.

Ticketed. Book through the Dobunni Poetry Festival event listing.
