About this event
Lechlade Craft Barn's regular workshops move to the Memorial Hall Pavilion for this one, trading the barn's external stone steps for a ground-floor space with its own car park. Tutor Kelly teaches the corn dolly weave, a technique more usually seen worked in wheat and straw, here applied to willow.
The session covers the different varieties of willow and how each is prepared and softened before it can be worked, then moves into making: a pair of decorative bullrushes, a willow dragonfly, or a small birdfeeder for the garden. No previous experience is needed. Tea, coffee and biscuits are included, with a small cash payment to the tutor on the day for materials.
You leave with something made by hand rather than bought off a shelf, and a technique you can keep using long after the morning ends.
