Two and a half hours at the potter's wheel — guided, hands-on, and completely beginner-friendly. New Brewery Arts has been running craft workshops from its Cirencester courtyard studio for years, and the wheel throwing tasters with Rhi Jarman are one of the better ways to spend a Tuesday morning.

Rhi — a ceramicist and sculptor whose own work draws on natural ecosystems — demonstrates centering, opening, and pulling walls before getting you to do the same. You'll leave having made something real, with your best piece glazed in white or transparent and stoneware-fired over the following six weeks. All materials and firings are included. Wear clothes that can get dirty, bring an apron if you have one, and take your rings off. Open to complete beginners and intermediate potters alike — 18 and over only.

At £75 you're paying for a proper small-group session with a working ceramicist, not a hen-do pottery experience. A waiting list is available if the morning slot has sold out.
