About this event

A Full Day in the Lewis & Wood Studio

Lewis & Wood makes some of the most beautiful printed fabrics in the country — and this is a rare chance to spend a full Saturday inside their Woodchester studio working with the remnants. Built around the launch of their new Patchwork collection, it's a proper deep-dive into the history and craft of quilts.

The day starts with coffee and an introduction from Creative Director Magdalen Jebb on the inspiration behind the collection, followed by time with original American quilt examples on loan from collector Cordelia Hall.

Then the group splits: one half learning three machine techniques — Log Cabin, Checkerboard, and a Strip-Stripe method that turns production offcuts into something purposeful — while the other works with tutor Alexandra Hucks on hand-appliquéd Matelassé squares, drawing from the tradition of the Baltimore quilt.

You leave with two finished squares, and if you want to press on, you can turn them into a cushion on the spot — a 50cm pad is included with the ticket.

Sixteen places, no experience needed, all materials and equipment provided, lunch and afternoon tea included. The Top Floor is accessed by stairs only — worth noting before you book.
