Weir, Starkey and Seven Centuries of Intrigue

Sudeley Castle has been collecting history for a thousand years — Katherine Parr lived and died here, Elizabeth I visited, and the estate has survived civil war, ruin and Victorian restoration. The History Weekend is three days of access to all of it.

The programme runs from Friday to Sunday and includes talks from Alison Weir on The Boleyn Secret (Friday 5pm, £25 including a sparkling reception hosted by Lady Ashcombe) and David Starkey on the extraordinary life of Katherine Parr (Saturday 5pm). Period music from Waytes and Measures, guided garden tours with the head gardener, and archive sessions where original historical documents are open for inspection. Most of the programme comes included with standard admission.
