Follow the White Rabbit into Sudeley's gardens after dark

Alice's Amazing Adventures in Wonderland brings the White Rabbit, Mad Hatter, Cheshire Cat and Queen of Hearts to Sudeley's Spectacle of Light. Follow the illuminated trail around the castle grounds, ruins and water features, with the story's characters along the way.

The trail opens on 20 to 22 and 27 to 29 November, then 4 to 6, 10 to 13, 16 to 23 and 27 to 30 December. Book a timed arrival between 4.45pm and 7.15pm, allowing around 60 to 75 minutes to walk at your own pace.

Paths include uneven ground, slopes, loose gravel and short steps, and two sections cannot accommodate wheelchairs or mobility scooters. Stewards can help, with an accessible drop-off and pick-up point at the Visitor Centre; ask about the route before booking if you need support.

Children under three go free but still need a ticket, and under-16s must be accompanied by an adult. Buggies are discouraged because of steps and congestion, with a baby carrier recommended instead. Essential companions can attend free with the required Nimbus or Access card registration through Everyman; personal carers must be over 16 and able to support their companion.

Enter via Vineyard Street in Winchcombe, where parking is free, and wear warm outdoor clothes and sturdy footwear. Mulled wine, hot chocolate, hot food and doughnuts are available at Castle Terrace, so you can add a warm stop to the walk; only registered assistance dogs are admitted.

Rain or extreme cold alone will not cancel the trail, and there is no weather refund if it is safe to proceed. If severe weather is a concern, check the event website after the 2pm cancellation decision before travelling.

Ticketed. Book ahead; tickets are not sold at Sudeley Castle. Tickets are non-refundable unless the event is cancelled; date or time exchanges require at least 48 hours' notice and depend on resale and availability, with fees applying. Groups of 15 or more can ask about a discount, and PDF tickets can be shown on your phone.
