About this event
Every August Bank Holiday Monday, Stroud does something it's quietly famous for: locals turn front gardens, driveways, and yards into impromptu markets, and a few thousand people follow a map around the whole town picking through the lot. The Yard Trail has been running since 2017, and Stroud Brewery is one of its most dependable multi-stall hubs.
At the brewery site on London Road, an indoor market space fills with vendors selling secondhand clothes, furniture, bric-a-brac, plants, artwork, and whatever else has been cleared from lofts and sheds across the district. Being indoors and covered means it runs regardless of whatever the Bank Holiday weather decides to do. While you're there, the taproom is open — Stroud Brewery is the UK's first organic B Corp brewery, and their Budding pale ale or a Big Cat stout makes a reasonable pit stop between hauls.
The trail runs across dozens of private gardens and several other multi-yard venues around Stroud on the same day, so most people collect a map from the website and spend the morning moving between sites.
Entry for visitors is free.
