Two Finished Scents Before Lunch

Pippa runs Pip Natural Blends out of a business that started as a mobile beauty round in Swindon, and it has since picked up a Client Satisfaction Excellence award from LUXLife Magazine and a Best Natural Skincare Specialist title for Southern England. She teaches aromatherapy skincare sessions at the barn too, but this Sunday morning slot is the one where the whole three hours is given over to scent.

You work through the essential and fragrance oil families first, how citrus, floral and woody notes settle differently on skin as they develop, before moving on to blending your own formula from what's in front of you. Minimum age is 13, with under-16s needing an adult alongside them. By half twelve you leave with two things: a 30ml eau de cologne and a 10ml roll-on, both mixed to a recipe nobody else in the room used.

Getting into the barn means a run of external stone steps, worth knowing if mobility is a concern, but once you're up there it's just tables of oils, pipettes and blotting strips laid out for a morning of trial and error.

You'll walk out wearing something nobody else in Lechlade is wearing.
