About this event
Inside Somerford Keynes' Hidden Arboretum
Not many people know this arboretum exists. Tucked into the grounds of Croft House — a Grade II listed property on The Street in Somerford Keynes — it was planted in November 1999 as a millennium
project across three acres. The centrepiece is Millennium Avenue, an arc of 20 trees each representing a specific century across the last two thousand years, surrounded by unusual specimens chosen to
reflect the owners' particular interest in oaks and limes.
On 7 June the gates open to the public from 2pm to 5pm. Guided tours run at 2.15pm, 3.15pm, and 4.15pm — 20 to 30 minutes each, maximum 15 per tour, for an additional donation. Cream teas are
available, parking is in the grounds, and no dogs apart from assistance dogs. Tickets £10 per person, under 12s free, available on the gate or online in advance.
All funds raised go to the Cirencester and Stroud Branch of Parkinson's UK — a good reason to spend a Sunday afternoon somewhere you'd otherwise never find.
