Choose the fabric, make the drum shade

Make a no-sew drum lampshade in a choice of 20cm or 30cm diameter. The finished shade can be used on a lamp base or as a ceiling light, and samples of both sizes will help you choose.

This workshop is intended for beginners, with all lampshade-making components supplied except the outer fabric. Tea and coffee are included.

Bring about half a metre of light- to medium-weight fabric, with a little extra if a pattern needs careful placement. Avoid heavy textures, stretchy fabric, velvet and heavy embroidery.

A fabric stash is available to buy from if you do not have suitable material, and optional kits can be bought to make more shades at home. Neither the outer fabric nor those extra kits are included.

The customer cancellation deadline is 15 January 2027. No tutor name or minimum age is published; confirm suitability with the organiser if booking for a young person.

The Pavilion is a ground-floor venue with adjacent free parking. It is a separate building from the Main Hall; ask the organiser about any individual access needs before booking.

Owner review: the Memorial Hall site falls outside the mapped Cotswolds National Landscape boundary, but the exact Pavilion footprint remains uncertain. Retain this listing for a coverage decision; the Craft Barn in Downington is a different venue.
