Make Your Own Leather Sneakers - a 2-day workshop

📅 Wednesday, 28 October 2026 at 10:00📍 Brush Studio, New Brewery Arts, Brewery Court, Cirencester, Gloucestershire GL7 1JH

About this event

Make a pair of shoes, starting with the hide

Over two days at New Brewery Arts, leatherworker Andy Rumming will guide participants from paper pattern to a finished pair of casual leather sneakers. The leather comes from Waterhay Farm in North Wiltshire, giving the workshop a clear route from farming to footwear.

You will cut the shoe pieces to size, add eyelets and stamped decoration, then hand-sew the uppers to modern soles. Tools and materials are supplied, while colours, size and laces are chosen when booking; late bookings may have fewer colour choices.

This is an adult workshop for an intermediate-level project. Previous leatherwork is not required, but New Brewery Arts asks for good manual dexterity and eyesight because the hand sewing can be strenuous; bring an apron or clothes that can get dirty, and check the Brush Studio route if you have particular access needs. The detailed course page gives 10am to 3.30pm on 28 and 29 October, but two other venue listings disagree, so confirm the timetable before travelling.

Ticketed. Check current availability and booking terms with New Brewery Arts.
