About this event
Make a leather-bound journal or sketchbook with guest tutor Kelly, using medieval long-stitch binding rather than glue. The sewing stays visible along the spine, and vegan-friendly material options are available.
You will work through paper grain, folding and cutting with traditional tools, then choose, prepare and measure leather in different colours and thicknesses. Straps, buttons or studs can finish the cover, and the session teaches the steps you need to make further books at home.
Some materials, tea, coffee and biscuits are included, but leather and clasps cost extra and are paid for directly with the tutor on the day. Bring lunch, and bring any leather you would like to use so its suitability can be checked.
This workshop takes place in the Pavilion beside Lechlade Memorial Hall, a separate ground-floor accessible building with adjacent free parking. Follow the Pavilion venue details when planning your journey, and check any individual access needs before booking.
Full payment secures a place, and the customer cancellation deadline is 8 January for this workshop. Read the cancellation terms before booking, particularly if your plans may change.
Owner review: the Memorial Hall site point falls outside the Cotswolds National Landscape boundary. The Pavilion is adjacent, but its exact building footprint has not been independently resolved; retain the outside-site and location uncertainty for a coverage decision.
Booking required. Leather and clasps cost extra.
