Latin for Beginners: Carpe Diem! (Age 14+)

Read a Latin love poem by the end of the hour

Latin is hiding in more everyday language than you might expect. This one-hour taster starts with familiar words and phrases, then moves into deciphering inscriptions and mottos from the language once spoken in Roman Corinium.

Designed for complete beginners aged 14 and over, the session works towards reading a famous Latin love poem. Examples include amo, amas, amat and veni, vidi, vici, with no previous experience needed.

Corinium Museum has level access and an accessible toilet, with Old Station, Brewery, Sheep Street and Abbey Grounds car parks nearby. The event is sold out, but the booking page has a waiting list.
