About this event

Meet the Trees, Then Draw Them

There's a particular kind of attention that comes from sketching something rather than just looking at it — and Cleeve Common, with its ancient trees and wide Gloucestershire skies, is a very good place to find out. This three-hour workshop led by local artist Gemma Hastilow starts with a walk across the Common to meet its most iconic trees, then settles in to draw them.

Charcoal, graphite and rubbers are the tools. Hastilow takes you through trunks, branches, bark, and the always-tricky question of what to do with all those leaves. No experience needed, all materials provided, and the session is suitable from age 14 up.

Organised by the Cleeve Common Trust from the Golf Club at Cleeve Hill — one of the highest points on the Cotswold escarpment, with views that make it worth the drive up on their own.
