About this event
Among potters, the teapot has a reputation. Body, lid, spout, handle, strainer holes: five separate thrown or constructed elements that must fit each other, balance visually, and pour without dripping. It is the benchmark piece that separates someone who can throw from someone who can really throw, and New Brewery Arts in Cirencester is one of the few places in the Cotswolds where you can tackle it with proper guidance.
Over two days, the workshop takes you through the whole process: throwing the component parts on day one, then waiting for the clay to reach leather-hard before trimming, assembling and adjusting on day two. The pace is designed around the material. Clay dictates timing, and this course respects that. One finished teapot will be kiln-fired with a transparent glaze and ready for collection within six weeks.
You need solid intermediate throwing experience to attend. Confident centring and consistent wall thickness are the baseline. The price is £175, with all materials included.
