KidsFreeMake Your Mark! Workshop: Writing Through the Ages

About this event
Lauren Holloway has been making slow-fashion bags and accessories since 2013, and she brings that practical, maker-led approach to this full-day session in New Brewery Arts' Scissors Studio.
Children aged 9 to 13 work through the fundamentals from the start: threading and setting up the machine, building straight and decorative stitches, hemming, applique. The day finishes with two finished pieces to take home — a drawstring bag and a personalised applique cushion cover, both made from pattern pieces they've joined themselves.
All fabrics, interfacing, thread and sewing machines are provided. Children need to be signed in and out by an adult, and should bring a packed lunch — the lunchbreak is supervised by Lauren and a volunteer. The on-site Blend cafe is open if parents want somewhere to wait or return to.
