Beginners Machine Sewing

Start with the sewing machine, leave with two finished projects

This one-day workshop with designer maker Lauren Holloway is for beginners and anyone wanting a refresher. You will learn to thread a domestic machine, try different stitches, insert a zip, make box corners and join pieces of a simple pattern.

Machines, tools and fabrics are provided, and you will work towards a drawstring bag and zipped pouch to take home. You can bring your own machine to get to know it, but remember its standard foot.

The workshop is for adults aged 18 and over. New Brewery Arts says the building has ramps, a lift, a ground-floor accessible toilet and disabled parking beside the Brewery car park; the studio permits lidded water bottles but not food, with refreshments available at Blend cafe until 4pm.
