Autumn Colours: Natural Inks and Drawing Trees

📅 Friday, 16 October 2026 at 11:30📍 Brush Studio, New Brewery Arts, Brewery Court, Cirencester, Gloucestershire GL7 1JH

About this event

Build an autumn palette, then take it into the trees

This two-day workshop with artist Fiona McIntyre starts by turning fresh and dried plant material into natural inks. You will try soaking, simmering, straining and adding mordants, seeing how acidity and alkalinity shift the colours.

On the second Friday, you will take those inks into Cirencester's Abbey Grounds to draw and paint trees from observation. Fiona demonstrates ways to work with natural inks, whose looser qualities suit the tones and textures of the landscape.

All abilities are welcome, but the workshop is for adults aged 18 and over. Materials, equipment and gloves are included; bring favourite brushes, a sketchbook and clothes that can get dirty.

Ticketed workshop. The organiser currently lists it as sold out, with a waiting list available.
