About this event
The Corinium Museum's prehistory gallery holds actual pots — Neolithic, Bronze Age, Iron Age — made using exactly the methods children will practise in this workshop. The gallery visit that opens the session isn't decorative context; it's where you see the finished article, thousands of years old, before going to make your own version.
The format is hands-on from the start. After time in the galleries looking at real prehistoric vessels for ideas, children use natural materials to build and decorate their own pot: sticks, string, and their own fingernails, which is both historically accurate and reliably popular. All materials are provided. Suitable for ages six and above, booking essential.
This is part of the Corinium's Festival of Archaeology 2026 programme, which runs across the summer holidays with similar hands-on sessions most weekdays.
