Talk & LectureThe Glosters in the Korean War: Why Is It Relevant Today?
Friday 16 October
📍 Cirencester

About this event
Eleanor Bruce and Lucilla Gray, the cousins behind Roman Found, bring their metal-detecting journey to Corinium Museum for a one-hour talk about the history hidden in ordinary ground. They will share stories of Roman coins, Bronze Age axes, lost thimbles and even unexploded Second World War bombs, with the focus on what found objects can tell us about the past.
Roman Found combines field finds with the research behind them, and the pair record finds through the British Museum's Portable Antiquities Scheme. This is a Cirencester History Festival talk rather than a practical detecting session, so it will not involve hands-on fieldwork.
Corinium Museum has level accessible entry, accessible toilets and two disabled parking spaces outside, with Old Station, Brewery, Sheep Street and Abbey Grounds among the nearest car parks. Doors open at 11.45am, and the event is currently sold out, although the festival is taking names on a waiting list.
Ticketed. Currently sold out, with a waiting list available.
