The Film That Earned Venice's Longest Ovation

Kaouther Ben Hania's docudrama reconstructs the last hours of Hind Rajab, a five-year-old trapped with her family under fire in Gaza in January 2024, built around the actual recorded emergency call she made to Red Crescent dispatchers as they tried to get an ambulance to her.

The film premiered in competition at the 2025 Venice Film Festival, where it won the Grand Jury Prize and drew a reported 23-minute standing ovation, then went on to a Best International Feature nomination at the Oscars as Tunisia's official entry, alongside nominations at the Golden Globes and BAFTAs. Saja Kilani, Motaz Malhees, Amer Hlehel and Clara Khoury play the dispatchers on the line. Subtitled, 89 minutes.

It's rare for a film built this closely around a real child's death to earn this level of critical consensus.
