A Three-Part Harmony and a Proper Night Out

The Corn Exchange has hosted more than its share of markets and civic occasions across its Georgian lifetime, but on a Friday evening in August it makes a fine cabaret venue — intimate, central, the kind of room where close-harmony singing actually lands properly.

The Candy Girls are a three-piece vintage harmony group whose CVs read like a tour of prestige UK stages: the Royal Albert Hall, Goodwood Revival, Chelsea RHS Flower Show, the Churchill War Rooms. Their cabaret show blends 1940s and 50s repertoire with modern chart material rearranged in the vintage style, performed in full period costume with choreography tight enough to compete with anything you'd catch in the West End — which is exactly where several of these performers have worked.
