About this event
Simon Jenkins brings The Village in Britain to Cirencester History Festival for a talk about how villages have shaped British life, from medieval roots and industrial decline to their return in urban and digital forms. He explores what village life can still teach us about belonging, place and the future of local communities.
Drawing on his forthcoming book, Jenkins considers the village through history, literature, architecture and culture, including the pressures facing local pubs, shops and community life. The North Door offers level access and the church has accessible toilets, with several town-centre car parks nearby.
Ticketed.
