About this event
Art Clay Silver looks and handles like ordinary modelling clay right up until it's fired, at which point it becomes solid fine silver. At the Craft Barn, that transformation happens in a single day, with a floral garland as the starting point for jewellery shaped entirely by hand.
Senior instructor Jo Richards of Faye Benjamin Jewellery leads the day, working through the technique from scratch: tiny moulds for individual flowers, a silver clay syringe for the fine garland detail, and the full finishing process, from sanding and refining through firing, polishing, and fitting jump rings or ear wires. Up to three pieces are possible in a session, and because everything is fired and finished on site, most people leave wearing what they made. No previous experience is needed.
Few workshops let you walk out wearing solid silver you shaped yourself that morning.
