About this event
The Cirencester International Organ Festival brings international performers to St John Baptist each summer, turning the town's great wool church into a serious concert hall for the month. The Chorus Concert on Saturday 1 August is the choral centrepiece of the week.
The church's Harrison and Harrison organ, installed in 2009 to four manuals and 63 stops within George Gilbert Scott's Victorian case, gives the festival an instrument to match its ambitions. For this concert, the Cirencester Choral Society — singing since 1863 — forms the festival chorus, joining with organ for an evening of combined choral and organ works.
The festival runs through August, with Austrian concert organist Stefan Donner also performing this week.
