About this event
Jagjeet Lally uses merchants, artisans and ordinary people to open up Mughal India alongside its emperors. Moving from countryside to city, he looks at the trade, consumption and global connections that shaped daily life and transformed the empire.
Lally is an Associate Professor of the History of Early Modern and Colonial India at UCL, where his work focuses on economic and material life. It is a useful angle for listeners who want South Asian history with people, markets and everyday choices in the frame, rather than a parade of rulers.
Corinium Museum has level accessible entry, several accessible toilets and two disabled parking spaces outside. Old Station Car Park is about a two-minute walk, while Kemble is the nearest railway station with buses and taxis serving Cirencester.
Ticketed. Currently sold out; join the waiting list. The festival may add a second event if enough people register.
