Met Opera: Samson et Dalila (12A)

A grand opera betrayal on the big screen

Saint-Saens's Samson et Dalila follows a hero whose strength cannot protect him from betrayal. Aigul Akhmetshina sings Dalila opposite Clay Hilley's Samson in Darko Tresnjak's Met production, with Giacomo Sagripanti conducting a large orchestra and chorus.

This cinema screening brings the Met's Live in HD series to Chipping Norton, with the opera sung in French. The score includes Dalila's seduction aria and the Bacchanale, a dance sequence that turns the final act into a spectacle.

Allow nearly four hours for this 12A screening, which contains brief nudity and a production using haze and strobe effects. If you need captions or have concerns about flashing images, check the screening arrangements with the Box Office before booking.

Level access runs through the Spring Street bar entrance to the stalls and accessible toilet, but the balcony has stairs and no lift. Four wheelchair spaces can be booked through the Box Office or online by members of the Access Register; parking outside is limited, so leave time to arrive.
