About this event
Shipston-on-Stour is a small Warwickshire market town on the edge of the Cotswolds, and like most market towns it had a drinking culture to match its trading one. The Shipston on Stour & District Local History Society runs this guided walk back by popular demand — the previous outing clearly found its audience.
Martin Russell leads the 90-minute walk through the town's network of old inns and taverns, tracing what was there, what is still there and what the buildings became after the trade moved on. The group assembles at Shipston Museum on West Street from 6:30pm, with the walk setting off at 7pm and finishing at The Black Horse Inn — which makes the post-walk question easy to answer.
