FamilyGhosts of Roman Britain
Thursday 1 October
📍 Chedworth

About this event
Chedworth Roman Villa sits in a wooded coombe in the north Cotswolds and is one of the best-preserved Roman sites in Britain — fourth-century mosaics, bathhouses, hypocausts all intact. This weekend it adds gladiators.
Combat shows run at 11am, midday and 2:30pm across both days, with gladiator school sessions and the chance to inspect Roman armour and put questions to the re-enactors between bouts. The real draw is Saturday evening: the site stays open until 8pm, culminating in a 7pm re-enactment of a Barbarian attack — Roman military discipline, skill and organisation put properly to the test.
Not something Chedworth sees on a normal weekend.
Free with standard villa admission, National Trust members free. No advance booking needed.
