Homer's Epic, Shot on Location, Fills the Barn Screen

Christopher Nolan's adaptation of Homer's Odyssey has been in UK cinemas since mid-July, and the Barn Cinema in Cirencester is giving it a run this September for anyone who wants Ithaca on a screen bigger than a laptop.

Matt Damon plays Odysseus, with Tom Holland as his son Telemachus, Anne Hathaway as Penelope, Zendaya as Athena and Charlize Theron as Calypso. Nolan shot across seven countries, including Morocco, Western Sahara, Greece, Italy, Iceland, Scotland and Malta, rather than building sets, and the film runs 173 minutes. This is the standard screening, without subtitles.

A war epic filmed on real coastlines rather than a soundstage is a rare thing to land on a small-town cinema screen.
